Schools and companies sign up for regional science fair

Schools and companies throughout the South East are signing up for the biggest regional science event in the UK – the 2017 Big Bang Fair South East.

Scheduled for Wednesday, 28th June at the South of England Showground, attendance is expected to top 2016’s record of 8,400 9-19-year-olds and their teachers, with the number of interactive workshops, shows and other STEM-related activities also expected to rise.

The Big Bang Fair South East links employers, education institutions and professional bodies with young people and their teachers in a day that highlights further education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

As well as a varied range of fun, noisy and exciting shows and activities, STEM Ambassadors and other industry representatives will be on hand to show young people what real science and engineering careers involve.

“Since the first Big Bang South East in 2012, we have gone from around 2,000 students from fewer than 60 schools and colleges to over 8,000 visitors from more than 160 schools and colleges,” said STEM Sussex Project Manager Jo McKinney-Green.

“Feedback from students and teachers, from sponsors and from activity suppliers has always been very positive and has enabled us to continue to grow the event and raise the profile of STEM-related activities throughout the region.

“We are now inviting new schools and companies to come and see what it’s all about.”

Schools and colleges wishing to attend the Big Bang Fair South East can register online at: http://old.thebigbangfair.co.uk/regional-registration/index.cfm?manageregistrations=true&eve_id=212
