Coordinated by STEM Sussex

We’re currently looking for volunteers for the Big Bang Fair South East, on Wednesday-Thursday 27th-28th June 2018 at the South of England Showground. Part of a nationwide programme, the fair is an interactive event that raises the profile of young people’s achievements in STEM. Over 8,000 young people are already registered to attend a day of exciting and inspiring hands-on activities, workshops and shows provided by local employers, colleges and universities and other organisations.

Take a look at the video of last year’s fair for a flavour of what it’s all about.

We need a large number of volunteers to help the day run smoothly. You don’t need a STEM background – although it could help. Could you be a:

  • Guide – taking students and other guests through the event, ushering in theatres, helping at registration, etc
  • Workshop assistant – help in the National Space Centre’s mega-class (an interest in space or a background in physics might help)
  • Careers forum assistant – talk about your STEM career in a speed-networking group with a professional facilitator
  • Competition assistant – support students who have entered the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition.

If you’d like to get involved, email bigbangse@brighton.ac.uk for more information.

The University of Brighton through STEM Sussex will be hosting Crawley STEMfest in partnership with Crawley Borough Council and Crawley College.
