The Electric Egg Race 2019

UPDATE 24 April: There is a last minute opportunity to enter one or more teams into this popular Electric Egg Race. Contact Helen on 01273 644178 or by email ASAP to enter.

We are pleased to announce the Electric Egg Race is returning for 2019.  Hosted by the Sussex Branch of the IET, the challenge is for Years 11, 12 and 13 students, and will be held in the new Advanced Engineering Centre at the University of Brighton.

  • Teams of 3-4 students design and build a vehicle or device to perform a specified task.
  • The task will always involve the transportation of an egg (hard-boiled) using supplied materials, e.g. motor and battery, balsa wood, string, glue and also other materials relevant to the specific task.
  • The task will not be revealed until the start of the event.
  • Members of the IET judge the teams throughout the design process and at the final challenge.  They will be looking for design excellence, use of materials, teamwork, and other stand out features.
  • Schools can enter a maximum of 3 teams.

This is a very popular event and spaces are limited, please don’t delay in registering your team’s details. If on registration we have already reached our total maximum number of teams we will be happy to add you to our waiting list, and will let you know should any registered teams drop out.

Good luck!

Online registration has now closed so please contact Helen on 01273 644178 or by email if you would like to enter a team (up to 3 per school).
