About Crawley STEMfest

Crawley STEMfest takes place in schools and colleges, in STEM Clubs and in the community throughout May and June with events for people of all ages. The final evaluation report from 2017 is available at: STEMfest Report

The festival culminated with the Big Bang Fair South East on 27th-28th June 2018, a fun, action-packed day for more than 10,000 9-19-year-olds and an excellent opportunity for the STEM community to come together and inspire young people. It also celebrates their achievements through the regional heats of the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition. You can watch a video about the event here. You can read about the 2017 event here: Big Bang Report.

Schools and colleges are invited to get involved with both Crawley STEMfest and the Big Bang Fair South East and the opportunities they present for forging links with businesses and individuals in the STEM community.

“Gatwick Airport is proud to be headline sponsor of Crawley STEMfest and the Big Bang Fair South East and we were pleased to see such a good turn-out from schools across the region,” says Paula Aldridge, Community Engagement Manager.

“Our objective is to inform the next generation about the wide range of applications of STEM skills at the airport and inspire them to choose STEM subjects – helping us to build a pipeline of talent for the future.”

The University of Brighton through STEM Sussex will be hosting Crawley STEMfest in partnership with Crawley Borough Council and Crawley College.
